Understanding the needs of athletes.

Dr Walters is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon who specializes in Sports Medicine.  He currently is on staff at Broward Health Imperial Point, Broward Health North, and Broward Health Medical Center.

Dr. Walters received a full academic scholarship to Florida A&M University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in Biology/Pre-Med. He then went on to earn his medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington D.C. He completed his Orthopedic Surgical residency at Howard University Hospital. He then was selected for the Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. During his fellowship he was able to provide expert, personalized care for professional sports teams, such as the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, as well as international organizations such as USA Rugby, colleges such as Slippery Rock University and the Community College of Allegheny County, and numerous area high schools.

Dr Walters treats complex injuries about the knee, shoulder, elbow and ankle.  He has a special interest in arthroscopic shoulder rotator cuff repairs, labral repairs, multi-ligament reconstructions of the knee including anterior and posterior cruciate ligament reconstructions and meniscal repairs.   He strives to use the latest technology and techniques to treat patients with a minimally invasive approach.

Dr Walters treats patients across the age spectrum, from high school and college athletes, to weekend warriors, and even non-athletes that need care. Dr Walters will develop a personalized treatment plan for each patient he treats based on their specific needs.  He takes the time to ensure a plan that is best for the whole patient.

Dr Walters serves as the head team physician for the Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale.  He has been in Broward County for over four years and is the only Board Certified Fellowship trained Sports medicine specialist in the Broward Health Physician Group. 

Dr Walters resides in Fort Lauderdale with his wife and two children.  He is an avid amateur golfer who can relate to athletes that want to return to sporting activities in the quickest and safest manner possible.  He enjoys playing golf, traveling and spending time with his family.
